Mastermind Group Generates New Marketing Ideas

January 31, 2008

One of the most important roles I play as CEO of TopLine Business Solutions is to head up a Mastermind Group of 12 of the most successful Marketing and Business Development Consultants in the world. We get together every two weeks on a special two-hour teleconference and meet in person every quarter. Our purpose is to exchange ideas about what is working in real-life situations with our clients and what we can do to improve the results we get for them.

Our discussions are lively and the ideas come a mile a minute. Here is a comment I just received from one of our consultants in Northern California.

Martin,

I just wanted to share with you my thoughts on the conference call yesterday. I apologize for being late but am I ever glad that I called in. I think to date that was the best information that we have exchanged.

What Recession?

January 30, 2008

I was on the phone yesterday with John Davis, and friend and associate from Dallas, Texas. John runs a couple of very successful companies and is one of the brightest people I know when it comes to marketing and business development.

In our discussion we talked about the economy and how it was impacting businesses in nearly every industry across the board. John got me laughing when he said how he got his entire staff together in a meeting and actually took a vote on whether or not they would participate in the recession. Not surprisingly, they all voted not to participate.

Last year John’s business was up 14 percent over the previous year, and this year he’s up 20 percent over that. Why? Because John and his staff have decided to continue to act as if there is no recession. They’re pushing ahead with full steam, marketing as they’ve always done, and continuing to get results.

Good, Better, Best

January 28, 2008

Yesterday I had the opportunity to sit in on a class taught by my friend and mentor, Paul Johnson. Paul is a high school math teacher at Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona, and is a master at communicating unique ideas, concepts and thoughts that can be applied in real life situations. Paul’s discussion centered around a recent talk given by former BYU president, Dallin H. Oaks, where Mr. Oaks compared the Sears model of “Good, Better, Best” to the choices we make on a daily basis.

Oaks talked about how the Sears, Roebuck catalog that came to his home when he was a youth often offered three choices. The example he used was men’s shoes. Some were labeled “good” ($1.84), some “better” ($2.98), and some “best” ($3.45). Oaks went on to say, “…that it is not enough that something is good. Other choices are better, and still others are best. Even though a particular choice is more costly,  its far greater value may make it the best choice of all.” [Read more]

January 25, 2008

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I told you that the January TopLine consultant’s training workshop sold out in record time. Well, we just completed the training and the excitement was at an all time high.

We introduced several completely new profit-generating modules and extended the training from 3 days to 4 days. And did we ever need it! There was so much information, new templates, letters, forms, scripts… everything you could ever need to get your consulting business up to the six-figure mark faster than ever before.

And the comments from the attendees told it all. Here’s what Jack Kaser, a veteran business consultant had to say…

A Spot Just Opened

January 9, 2008

Last month I was in England for the launch of our U.K. / European program. It was an absolute knockout and the group was so excited when they completed training. I’ll tell you more about it in upcoming posts. In the meantime, here’s just one of the comments from a consultant who attended.

On another note, I just got a call from Chad, president of TopLine, who said that one of the people who registered for the January TopLine Consultant’s Training Workshop had to reschedule, leaving one spot that he needs to fill.
